Testing of Philips 42″ LCD tv (part 1)

LCD TV - Offers the benefits of ultra fast refresh rates for smooth image reproduction, combined with Full HD quality resolutions throughout the range of sizes and a better power consumption than the Plasma alternatives that are available.

Plasma TV - Provides the same HD picture quality as LCD but with much darker blacks and more vivid colours, combined with wider viewing angles. Plasma TVs have almost no motion blur and have much higher refresh rates, producing smoother reproduction of fast moving content.

LED TV - Based on an LCD display, but uses an LED based backlighting system instead of the fluorescent equivalents used in LCD and Plasma displays. This allows for a thinner TV due to the smaller size of LEDs used. LEDs are dimmable and can turn off completely providing the extremely deep blacks without affecting the brightness of the rest of the picture. LED has the lowest power consumption of all three.
